Building Hope – Feedback Response Document

Dear Parish Team, PPC & PFC,

Thank you once again for your engagement with the Easter 2022 initial phase of the Building Hope strategic planning process in the Archdiocese.

Please find attached a document from Archbishop Farrell which summarises your responses to the initial parish Building Hope engagement and offers a clear sense of the direction in which we will now travel together. The document can also be found at

We ask that you read the document together as a parish leadership group and at your deanery meeting. Please share it widely with your parish volunteer groups, parishioners, Mass-goers and in the usual ways via parish website, newsletter, printout etc.

We look forward to continuing in dialogue and discernment into Advent and beyond.

With every blessing,

Very Rev Gareth Byrne, VG
Chair of the Building Hope Pastoral Strategy Implementation Group

Weekly Taizé services – Newman University Church, Tuesdays at 6pm

Weekly Taizé services have resumed at Newman University Church on Tuesdays at 6pm. The Taizé service includes about 40 minutes of song, prayer, and silence. The church is dimly lit, the Taizé cross is brought out as a focal point of prayer, and the congregation brings forward lit candles with their prayers. There is tea and biscuits after the service each Tuesday.

At 6pm on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, Brian Grogan SJ will give a talk at University Church titled “Climate Grief and Christian Hope”.

Join us 11am on Saturday, 01 October 2022, for a Nature Walk beginning at the Newman University Church. It should last about an hour.

To end the Season of Creation at 6pm on 04 October 2022, a Taizé service will be held in honour of St Francis’s feast day.
