Funerals
The death of a loved one is a time when a sense of loss and pain is experienced. The parish wishes to support the family of the deceased person through this time.
Normally the funeral director will make contact with the parish priest to check availability of the church. When the final arrangements have been made the funeral director will provide the parish priest with contact details of the family. The priest or members of the Parish Funeral Team will contact the family and make arrangements to visit the home of the bereaved, helping them to plan the funeral liturgy.
The Parish Funeral Team was trained and commissioned in 2010. The objective of the Funeral Team is to work in the preparation and organisation of funerals in the Parish.
On Tuesday evenings and on other occasions members of the Funeral Team receive the body of the deceased at the Church. If required, they lead the prayers at the graveside or crematorium.
It is important to note that funeral Masses are celebrated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10.00 am.
PRIVACY NOTICE
European Data Protection law, the General Data Protection Regulation EU 2016/679 (“GDPR”) was introduced on 25 May 2018. This law applies to any organisation, including our parish, that manages and processes people’s personal information.
Mindful of your recent bereavement and how difficult a time this is for you and your family we in the parish hesitate to add to the many things you have to deal with including formalities and legal matters.
The parish takes your privacy very seriously and will only use your personal information for the reason it was provided. In this instance, we need your name and contact information which has been given by you or by the funeral director who has shared it with your consent. It may be used by the priests, parish staff and a member of our parish funeral team to facilitate the funeral of your loved one.
We will keep your information on the secure parish database so we can invite you to our next Annual November Mass for the Dead when your loved one will be remembered and prayed for by the parish community. This system can only be accessed by authorised parish staff.
