Sacrament of Confirmation

We are delighted that you are registering your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation in 2025.

Before you continue to registration, please consider the following:

  • The Sacrament of Confirmation is a final commitment to live faith as an actively practicing Catholic. It is not essential for any young person to present for the Sacrament of Confirmation and they should only present if they have been actively practicing their faith.
  • Attendance at weekly Sunday Mass is an essential part of commitment to faith. There is no point on young people who are non-practicing going forward for the Sacrament.  Please have a discussion with the young person concerned and make an honest decision with attendance at Mass being central.
  • If participation in sports seems an obstacle, please note that Mass is celebrated in most parishes on Saturday evening or in neighbouring parishes if not in your own.

Please ensure that you have a Roman Catholic Baptismal certificate for your child at hand to upload before you start to fill in the registration form.  If you do not have a copy of the certificate, it may be acquired at the church in which your child was Baptised.  This may be requested via the parish website in most parishes.

We are asking each family to contribute a donation of €20 to meet the running costs of the parish and administration involved in preparing for the celebration of the sacraments.  If this request causes any hardship, please email sacramentspalmerstown@gmail.com where all will be dealt with in confidence.
